PERFORMANCE
Varadox
has quickly progressed through the levels. In 2007 when purchased we
did few competitions as she was ultra careful and liable to scare
herself and we therefore spent time establishing the necessary
groundwork. She commenced her competition career in 2008. She quickly
recorded her 4 double clears for 2009 in Discovery, Newcomers and
Foxhunter classes.
In 2009 she qualified for the Blue Chip
Championships in the Blue Chip Power final (2nd in the qualifier at
Barton Equestrian Centre), Blue Chip Performace final (3rd in the
qualifier at South View) and Blue Chip Dynamic B&C final (2nd in
qualifier at South View). She had a win at the Blue Chip Championships
in a warm up class not being phased by the atmosphere at all before
unfortunately bruising her sole and missing her finals!
In 2009
she also won the Discovery Regional final at Midland Counties show from
a strong field therefore qualifying for the final at the BSJA Scope
Festival where she finished 9th in the final. She also qualified for
the Blue Riband and B&C classes at Scope where she contested the
National Grade C Championship, jumping a superb clear around the 1.30m
track and finishing just outside the placings.
Varadox has
progressed quickly in the last 12 months from just starting Discovery
classes to regularly competing at 1.35m level. After a winter break she
will re commence her competitive career being aimed at B&C
qualifiers over the winter and shall be aimed at stepping upto 1.40m level in 2012. There are plans for her to
compete at several smaller Internationals in 2012 for experience and we
have high hopes for the future of this talented horse. Watch this
space!

BREEDING
Varadox has exceptional breeding being by the great stallion Concorde out of a mare by Calvados.

Varadox's sire " Concorde comes from very strong jumping lines on both sides. Sire of this
stallion, who in jumping
circles is known as Olympic Concorde, is the impressive dominant breeding
stallion Voltaire, who via his sire Furioso II and Gotthard is bred to
perform. Voltaire is the number 2 in the World Breeding Rankings for
Showjumping Sires in 1996. Voltaire through the performances of his
offspring stands very high in both the dressage and jumping indexes. Due to
his high ranking position, Voltaire was given the 'keur' and 'preferen'
predicates at a very early age. Concorde's dam, Flyer, is by the legendary
Marco Polo, one of the most influential Dutch stallions in breeding and
jumping with representatives such as: Irco Polo, Pybalia, Marius, Orpheus,
Mr LA, Pierrot and Recruut.
Flyer is related to the international jumper
Vivaldi, which under Melanie Smith was speed horse of the Year in 1980.
Flyer produced at least 6 (inter)national jumpers. Concorde was himself an
international jumper with Jos Lansink. They won the Grand Prix of
Nordrhein-Westfalen at Aken and they were Champion of the Netherlands in
1994, 2nd in the Grand Prix of Amsterdam, 2nd Darmstadt, 2nd Lanaken, 2nd
Helsinki and 2nd Gothenburg. The last three years Concorde was the sire with
the most offspring at the World Breeding Championships for young horses.
The preferentı Concorde has proved himself to be an absolute top sire of
international sporthorses.
His offspring Audiıs Jikke, Kathja, Conquest II, Larino, Viktor and Isabella
proved themselves at the very top at Grand Prix level (1.60 m.) and World
Cup jumping. In the Grand Prix of Rotterdam 3 from the top 8, had Concorde
to thank as their sire. At the World Cup final at Las Vegas had 4 offspring
in the finals! Concorde was the youngest stallion ever to be awarded
preferentı, due to his endless list of national and international children..
Concorde was elected ³Horse of the Year² in 2004 and is the highest ranked
KWPN stallion in the top ten of the WBFSH!! "(Taken from the Team Nijhof website)

Varadox's dam Paradox is by the legendary Calvados. "Calvados is bred from the best French performance
bloodlines. His sire Uriel has been leading sire for several years (index
211, the highest index figure ever in France). Uriel contributed to French
breeding through 26 sons and he produced more than 100 international
showjumpers!! His dam Gold Rose (index 186!) was as a 3 year old French
Conformation Champion and she was in the French Showjumping Team from 1979
until 1982, during which time she won for example the Grand Prix of Paris
and Madrid and became second in Lisbon, Barcelona and Hamburg. Her total
winnings were Frs.. 621.000,--. In addition Gold Rose produced two sons,
that both became approved stallions Turban Rose in Sweden and Sable Rose
(=Calvados) in Holland. Gold Rose was sired by the great showjumper producer
Ibrahim with 36 approved sons in France, including the legendary Alme.
Granddam of Calvados was the unique mare Jolie Rose, who became very famous
by producing 6 international showjumpers including: All Rose, Dall Rose,
Gold Rose, La Rose II.She also produced the approved stallions Irminio and
Joly Jumper. Calvados as a 4 year old won the National Stallion Competition.
In 1992 Calvados as an 8 year old claimed a deserved 7th place in the Dutch
Championship with Peter Geerink.
The next year they were Reserve Champion of the Netherlands and won the
Grand Prix of Tjele in Denmark, 3rd Grand Prix of Drammen, 5th Grand Prix of
Falsterbro, 2nd Grand Prix of Spangenberg, 4th Grand Prix of Geesteren and
winner of the Stallion Competition at 's-Hertogenbosch. Although Calvados
has bred on a very limited scale, he has many international offspring
jumping at Grand Prix level, e.g. Macanudoıs Deniro (Peter Wylde), Royal
Future (Allison Firestone), Royal Love (Susanne Behring), Harmonie (Leon
Thijssen), Iwan II (Mark Armstrong), Illussion (Tani Tops) and Silber Bird
(Markus Beerbaum). Calvados is one of the few stallions who has earned his
predicate. He has this to thank from his above mentioned, worldfamous
children, who won grand prix and world cups. Calvados produced the reserve
champion of the IAN-trophy and a lot of offspring scored high marks in their
mare tests, IBOPıs and foal auctions. The jumping index of Calvados is
extremely high with 152 points. Calvados produced the highest percentage
star mares in 2003."
