Anna with Alex 1.40m Arena UK 2006
BREEDING Anna is by the International jumping stallion 'Didi' who was previously ridden by Michael Whitaker to victory in the King George V Gold Cup and out of a Thoroughbred mare.
Anna's sire Didi was an exceptional international showjumper, remaining at the height of his discipline for many years. Firstly ridden by Michael Whittaker then Peter Gotz for the Barcelona Olympics, followed by Louis Alvarez Cervera and finally Ludo Philipaerts. Didi won 30 International level classes and was placed in a further 50 of these classes winning in total over £100,000. Didi’s massive natural ability to jump is reflected by his some 20 wins in Puissance classes including clearing an incredible 7ft7in at Aachen in 1988 and again in Paris in 1989. He also has a proven track record at Grand prix, including wins in Mechelin and RIHS 1989, and Volvo World Cup Qualifiers, including a win at Antwerp 1989. Didi had a unique versatility that enabled him to win both the king George V Cup, the RIHS Grand Prix, and top speed and puissance classes in the same year (1989). Didi also represented South Africa in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Didi, is noted for his Puissance results, but it should not be forgotten that Didi was extremely competent in Grand Prix and won the King's Cup at the 1989 Royal International Horse Show. Breeding Profile Corlando x was a French Anglo Arab bred by the French National Stud and owned by Paul Schockemohle. He was graded into the Hanoverian, Oldenburg, Westfalian and Belgian Warmblood Studbooks as an improving sire and has produced several graded sons and sport horse offspring. Fantastique was a Selle Français stallion graded with the Belgian Warmblood Studbook. He is an outstanding sire of showjumpers currently ranked at 44th by the WBFSH (1990-99). His offspring include the successful showjumpers Jeremia, Jamco’s Vagabond, Nikita XVII and Loro Piana Elastique. Ibrahim is one of the foundation sires of the modern Selle Français. He has sired 49 graded sons and his descendants include Almé Z, one of the most outstanding sires of showjumpers in the last 30 years, and Jalisco B who is currently ranked 2nd in the World as a sire of showjumpers (1990-99).

Anna also recieves thoroughbred blood from her damline and as such will pass on a lot of quality to her progeny and can therefore heavier stallions can be used. PERFORMANCE
Anna competed to International Grade A level and was placed upto 1.60m level including a 3rd place in a 1.60m class at Royal Lancashire Show. As a young horse she qualified for the Newcomer final at the Horse of the Year Show. She was placed in Area Trial competitions and competed at International Shows in France, Spain and Holland. She was consistently placed in the Big Tour competitions on the Spanish Sunshine Tour. She was placed in the Ladies Championship at the Festival of Showjumping as well as Young Rider European Trials. She competed at International level with three different riders with success. She had huge scope and was incredibly careful. She no doubt inherited her scope from sire Didi who was a prolific winner of Puissance competitions. She was very balanced for a big horse and incredibly athletic, this quality was probably a result of the Thoroughbred blood of her damline.
Castle Anna ABOUT ANNA
Anna has a fabulous temperament, and is exceptionally easy to handle. She was good in all respects; clipping, with the farrier, on the road, to travel etc. This temperament has been passed onto her progeny. She was not a spooky horse and was very trainable.
Anna has been a fabulous broodmare, she is a great mum and will allow us to handle the foal. She never becomes stressed and is a real asset to our broodmare herd.
She has excellent conformation and retired from competition aged 15 sound and well. She never had a break from competition through injury and was incredibly sound throughout her career.
